I purchased "How to See Like an Artist" for our family friend who has been through a few challenges lately. She needed a fresh start or new perspective in life. I figured this book might encourage her to try something new and pursue her creative side. I am pleased to say it did inspire her. In fact, its the most excited I've seen her in years. She has started sketching and photographing dogs(her favorite subject). She discovered she likes photographing dogs stretching and yawning which seems to delight her to no end. What a beautiful book to help us art neophytes, come to understand the artistic world a little better. The author teaches us texture, shape, colors and composition. She even gives us lessons and practice pages along the way. However it's not just an instructional, there are many beautiful photographs and drawings within this little gem! It's a mini art class within a coffee table book, challenging yet not intimidating at all!
